During the meeting in Prague, OpenMandriva contributor Tapwag introduced the importance of localizing the OpenMandriva product to specific markets. It has been noted that the adaptation of the distribution to various language areas has always been a great asset and strength.
In Prague, Maik introduced Transifex as a possible solution to handle localisation and and account for the OpenMandriva Association has been created as well. At present there still needs migration to be done (strings from 2011 release to the new transifex) and it has been agreed that there should be constant improvement in L10n.
The project Page can be found here: https://project.openmandriva.org/projects/l10n
Feel free to request a language for your team and also have a look at http://transifex.mandriva.com to collect previous translations for this language.
Other translation platform alternatives might be the following:
- http://pootle.translatehouse.org/index.html (used by Codeweavers to translate their "Crossover" product based on "wine")
- Zanata (Fedora project switched to this one)
- Vertaal (used by openSUSE)
There are also desktop solutions to handle L10n such as localize which is part of the KDE software collection.
