What's New in OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0?

This is the first release under the OpenMandriva Association!

A bit about us.

Over the course of the past year we've tried to evolve the way you use your desktop with us. Here are some of the things we've done for 2013.0:

New theme and artwork

OpenMandriva Lx ships with our traditional Elementary theme, signifying its ease of use. We also have our traditional OpenMandriva 2013.0 artwork.

The startup screen for 2013.0.
Logging into OpenMandriva Lx.
The OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 desktop.

Also, OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 is the second version to include photos from our background contest, the flavour of freedom. We've chosen 11 photos from the 76 photos submitted, and they are included by default!

KDE 4.11.2

We've included the latest release of KDE 4.11.2 with our distribution, bringing with it the latest KDE stable, secure, and reliable KDE release:

Performance Improvements

OpenMandriva Lx 2013.0 has been improving with every iteration - we've tried to make sure that your system works in a stable yet powerful manner.

The kernel has been upgraded to 3.11.6 nrjQL - a powerful variant of the 3.11.6 kernel. The CPU and RCU have been configured with full preemption and boost mode, while we've also added the CK1 and BFQ patchsets to provide optimisations (including a better CPU load scheduler, better disk I/O scheduler, a better memory manager via UKSM, and TuxOnIce for better suspension and hibernation), designed with desktop system performance and responsiveness in mind.
